FOLK IN DULWICH
Dulwich hosts a wide range of folk activity covering most all aspects of folk and catering to a wide range of interests. Within a couple of miles you can experience:
Dulwich Folk
Our monthly club now at the Castle Pub on the first Sunday of the month for the intense and intimate nights with great singers and musicians, introduced by our resident band Shötley Crüe.
Shötley Crüe are Andy Clark, Alison Craig, Mary Currie, Penny Letts, Cathy Slater, Phil Stevens, and John Seargeant. They originally met through the Dulwich Folk Choir and formed a "pocket choir" formed to perform at the Harwich Sea Shanty Festival in 2014, taking their name from the local Suffolk Hamlet of Shotley.
Since then they have played at Festivals, Folk Clubs and other venues around the country singing characterful sea songs and shanties and whatever else takes their fancy really.
Also regularly resident are Sarah Lloyd and Ian Kennedy. Both fine singers in their own right, together they provide exquisite two part harmonies
The Goose is Out! at the Ivy House
Based at the Ivy House in Nunhead, the Goose is Out! runs concerts with well known names from the folk world- usually on the last Friday of the month- plus what many think are the best singarounds in London on the second Sunday of the month.
Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses
Large community garden in the centre of Brockwell Park who put on gigs in their greenhouses (seats 70) April through to October, usually on Sunday early evenings featuring folk and world musicians. Homemade and grown food and drink served at all gigs. On line booking or cash/card at the gate.
